The 2014 Acura MDX Review, Specs and Price
The 2014 Acura MDX - The 2014 Acura MDX midtier Technology package adds a number of passive driver aid technologies, such as a blind-spot-monitoring system, a forward collision warning system, and a lane departure warning system. Each of these systems will chide you with visual and audible alerts, letting you know that there's potential danger -- such as merging into a lane that's currently occupied or drifting out of your current lane because of inattentiveness -- but they don't actively intervene in any way.
However, the MDX's top-tier option package and trim level, the MDX Advance, adds active intervention abilities to the passive driver aid features of the Technology package. Forward collision alert becomes a Collision Mitigation Braking System that can automatically engage the brakes to slow the vehicle before an imminent collision, reducing the force and severity of the impact. Cruise control becomes Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with a low-speed follow feature that allows it to maintain a safe following distance with the leading vehicle all the way down to a complete stop and resume its speed when the lead vehicle moves. The standard rearview camera gets front and rear parking proximity sensors.
Interior
In general, The 2014 Acura MDX has done a fine job upgrading the finish and layout of the cabin. The standard third row seating is invaluable to anyone with kids to haul around. Other notable standard features include tri-zone dual-mode automatic climate control, Bluetooth, multi-view rear camera and a power-operated tailgate.
With the rear seats in place, there’s approximately 15 cu. ft. of cargo room. That should handle most daily errands and routine chores. Fold the third and second row seats down, and you’ll have a massive 68.4 cu. ft. of space available.

Powertrain
The V6 is a sweet piece with good power and it sounds quite nice high up in the rev range for an SUV. The automatic transmission's shifts are quick and well timed. In fact, this is the smoothest V6 automatic gearbox combination on the market, in my mind.
For a large vehicle with a higher center of gravity, the MDX is a handler thanks in no small part to the SH-AWD system which can route torque from side to side out back. Earlier this year we did an Autofile test with the MDX and I was shocked at how well the back end of this big boy rotated around through the slalom and skidpad. On the street, this car is surefooted and is actually a little fun to sling around.
Price
Starting price from $42,290 - $44,290.
